Thailand to Strengthen Ride-Hailing App Regulations from Oct 1, 2026

Thailand's Ministry of Transport is set to implement a new system to strengthen regulations for ride-hailing service applications, commencing October 1, 2026. This system will assign an "app driving license" to each ride-hailing app driver and manage their driving records. A point system will be introduced for these "app driving licenses," penalizing traffic violations and breaches of app terms of service. Points will be added based on the nature of the violation, and drivers whose accumulated points reach a certain threshold will face license suspension. This measure aims to enhance the safety of ride-hailing app services and build passenger trust.
