Vietnam to Implement New Fire Safety Inspection Regulations from September 15

Vietnam's government will implement new regulations on fire safety inspections starting September 15. This is based on Government Decree No. 347/2026/NĐ-CP dated September 8, 2026, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc on behalf of the Government. The new regulations contain significant provisions concerning the responsibility for acceptance, authority, and procedures for fire safety inspections, particularly after building completion. In addition to inspections often conducted after a building is finished, the importance of both pre-inspection (tiền kiểm) during the design phase and post-inspection (hậu kiểm) after operation begins is emphasized. This is a measure to identify potential fire risks early and prevent them. Furthermore, efforts will be made to enhance fire safety capabilities at the local level. Strengthening the fire fighting and rescue system within communities is essential for enabling rapid and effective responses. Additionally, strict handling of fire and explosion safety violations is clearly stated. This demonstrates a strong will to ensure compliance with safety standards and protect lives and property. In recent years, with urban development and the increase in high-rise buildings, strengthening fire safety measures has become an urgent issue in Vietnam. Fire incidents, especially in residential complexes and commercial facilities, have garnered significant public attention. The new regulations, considering this background, are thought to aim at establishing a more comprehensive and effective safety management system.
