Da Nang Police Bust Illegal Gambling Ring Worth Over 8 Billion VND

In Vietnam's central city of Da Nang, police have successfully dismantled an illegal number-betting (so de) ring operating on a scale exceeding 8 billion VND (approximately $330,000 USD), the Criminal Police Department of the Da Nang City Police announced on July 24. The busted organization was reportedly active in the Hoa Khanh ward. This incident is one example of the prevalence of illegal gambling in Da Nang. In recent years, the city has seen a series of crackdowns on large-scale gambling organizations. These include a gambling ring valued at 350 billion VND (approximately $22 million USD), a large gambling den in the city center, and even organizations disguised as international technology companies. These arrests highlight the deep-rooted nature of gambling in Vietnamese society and the intensity of the authorities' efforts to eradicate it. Under its one-party system, Vietnam places importance on maintaining social order and stability in people's lives.
