Sihanoukville Governor Inspects Progress at ISI SEZ, Orders Environmental Measures and Infrastructure Upgrades
Sihanoukville Governor inspected the progress of projects at the Golden Port Estate Development (ISI SEZ) in the province. The governor instructed companies to develop wastewater treatment facilities compliant with environmental standards and connect to the state's electricity grid. Phnom Penh, Cambodia – July 5, 2026 – On Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2026, His Excellency Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, led officials to inspect the progress of projects at the Golden Port Estate Development Co., Ltd. (ISI SEZ) located in Trapeang Kher Village and Trapeang Moul Village, Cheung Ko Commune, Prey Nob District, Preah Sihanouk Province. During the inspection, representatives of the ISI SEZ presented an overview of the company's project progress, which spans over 800 hectares. ISI SEZ is a local company that has been operating for nearly 30 years and employs 2,500 staff. The company's operations are divided into six major sectors: 1. Pipe manufacturing, 2. Industrial building construction (focusing on factories), 3. Development of industrial parks, such as those on Veng Sreng Road and in Kandal Province, 4. Real estate development, including affordable housing, 5. Food industry, exemplified by "Cafe' Brown" at the new Phnom Penh International Airport, and 6. The development of the ISI SEZ itself, identified as a zone with high investment potential. In Preah Sihanouk Province, the company has four locations, including one along the expressway. The construction of the ISI SEZ began a year and a half ago and is currently progressing rapidly. Notably, a tire factory, covering 100 hectares, is under construction and is expected to commence operations soon, contributing to the automotive production chain. The company also constructs factories for rent to meet investor demands. Following the inspection, Governor Mang Sineth expressed his full support for the company's development initiatives. He then proceeded to inspect the progress of the ORLON ZINC INDUSTRY CAMBODIA CO., LTD. factory, which produces zinc oxide, and the tire factory within the ISI SEZ. Governor Sineth also issued directives to the company representatives. He instructed them to install clean water storage tanks for daily use and, crucially, to establish wastewater treatment facilities that comply with technical standards and do not negatively impact the environment for nearby residents. Regarding electricity, he advised them to coordinate with the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Electricity Authority to connect to the state's power grid for use within the SEZ.
