Ex-DepEd Undersecretary Admits Learning of CF Handover to Security Execs During House Probe

MANILA, Philippines — Former Education Undersecretary Michael Poa has admitted that he only knew about the practice of leaving confidential funds (CF) to Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) officials during a House of Representatives hearing in October 2024. At Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial on Wednesday, counsel for the prosecution Benjamin Tolosa Jr. asked Poa if he was aware of the practice. Poa replied that he only learned about it during the congressional hearing. He was asked if he had been briefed on the matter prior to the hearing.
