32 Charged in Vietnam Over Fake Medical Records Scheme to Dodge Prison

Bắc Ninh Province police announced on May 2 that 32 individuals, including the Deputy Director of Hà Nội Lung Hospital, have been charged in connection with a network that forged medical records to help convicted criminals evade prison sentences. The scheme exploited legal provisions allowing sentence deferrals for serious illness, with fabricated diagnoses issued for substantial fees.
