Their permits to stay in Thailand were revoked as arrest warrants have been issued for them by the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau, Linping district branch in Zhejiang province, on charges of illegally operating a medical business and being involved in an illegal surrogacy ring. Yan is alleged to head an organization responsible for managing the premises of the illegal surrogacy operation, with the unlicensed medical facility providing illegal insemination and surrogacy services for profit. Initial investigations revealed numerous unsuspecting clients and connections to multiple parties, involving a massive amount of money. Furthermore, the ring ran into a serious conflict with a client during an embryo transfer procedure, which is linked to other criminal offenses currently being investigated by Chinese authorities. Mi is also a member of the illegal surrogacy network, holding significant control as a shareholder in the company. She was tasked with marketing and expanding the client base by recruiting members or victims for surrogacy services at the illegal medical facility. On Thursday (July 2), Thai police were alerted by China that the two suspects had illegally entered the country.
