Hanoi Pitches Tourism in Beijing to Deepen Travel Ties

Hanoi is actively promoting its tourism in Beijing, aiming to deepen travel exchanges between Vietnam and China. Guo Zhuqing, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, stated that Beijing and Hanoi are key gateways for bilateral cultural and tourism exchange. He emphasized that conditions are in place to boost visitor numbers, build trust, and expand business cooperation, thereby supporting people-to-people ties. This initiative is seen as part of Vietnam's efforts to strengthen ties with China, a crucial trading partner, as it seeks to maintain and diversify its economic growth. Under its one-party system, Vietnam views economic development as a cornerstone of social stability, and tourism serves as a vital source of foreign currency and job creation. Chinese tourists, in particular, represent a significant portion of Vietnam's economy, and their recovery and increase directly contribute to economic revitalization. Vietnam also navigates its relationship with China by considering geopolitical balance while maintaining significant economic interdependence. Despite occasional tensions, such as those related to the South China Sea, maintaining economic ties is considered beneficial to Vietnam's national interests.
