Cambodian Information Ministry Urges Pailin Provincial Information Department to Enhance Information Management
Cambodia's Ministry of Information spokesperson has instructed the Pailin Provincial Information Department to remain vigilant in information and public opinion management to combat fake news and societal pollution. This directive was given during a meeting organized by the ministry in Pailin province.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Information has urged officials at the Pailin Provincial Information Department to maintain high vigilance in information and public opinion management, emphasizing that they must not be negligent, even if the general situation appears normal. This is due to the constant potential for fake news and societal pollution to emerge at any moment, with rapid situation control beginning with early awareness and constant preparedness. This directive was issued during an orientation meeting on "Information and Public Opinion Management" held for the officials of the Pailin Provincial Information Department on the afternoon of July 16, 2026. The meeting was attended by Mr. Chea Lyse, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Information, responsible for the Pailin Provincial Information Department, along with numerous officials from the department. Mr. Tep Asnarith, representing Minister Net Phakthra, encouraged the officials of the Provincial Information Department to proactively disseminate truthful information about the province's infrastructure development and tourism potential through the department's official websites and social media channels, urging for increased activity. While commending their work, the spokesperson also advised the Pailin Provincial Information Department to strengthen cooperation with journalists, both local and external, to ensure the provision of professional and trustworthy information. Timely and comprehensive information from the authorities, he noted, not only facilitates the work of journalists but also helps prevent the publication of inaccurate news that could lead to legal challenges. During the event, Mr. Chea Lyse, Undersecretary of State, urged the Pailin Provincial Information Department to vigorously produce information. He specifically emphasized the promotion of the province's potential through video production on tourism, historical narratives, or literature for wider dissemination. Mr. Nheap Borey, Director of the Pailin Provincial Information Department, accepted the recommendations from the ministry's leadership and pledged to implement them for better work outcomes. He believes the orientation meeting will provide additional knowledge and skills to the civil servants, enhancing work efficiency and enabling swift and timely responses to the actual situation in Pailin province.
