The Department of Education (DepEd) launched ARAL TutorKo, a web-based platform designed to streamline tutor recruitment and management under its Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program. Developed with Thames International, Inc. and LearnTalk Ltd., the platform provides tools for tutor applications, onboarding, deployment, lesson management, learner grouping, attendance and session tracking. DepEd targets 440,000 tutors in its 2026 budget to support 6.7 million public school learners. The launch comes amid concerns over delays in hiring external tutors, which previously prompted some schools to rely on volunteer teachers. DepEd reported that 4.5 million struggling learners improved their literacy skills under ARAL in school year 2025-2026, supported by 443,906 tutors.
