JCA Strengthens Cooperation with Cambodia in Training, Agriculture, and Digital Industries

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA) President Takahashi Fumiaki at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on August 10, 2026, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, Mr. Takahashi reported on the activities of JCA's current business mission, noting the signing of an MOU with the General Department of Administration of the Ministry of Interior to promote Japanese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in Cambodia and to enhance cooperation with relevant ministries. JCA emphasized its focus on strengthening cooperation with Cambodia through three main pillars: vocational and technical training, agricultural development, and digital industry development. Furthermore, JCA outlined plans to expand its investment activities, including the processing of silkworm and tilapia for domestic and international markets (Japan and global), training in beauty and cosmetics, and collaboration with Toyota for automotive technician training. To promote Cambodia's Investment Law, JCA plans to organize seminars in Japan to educate Japanese companies about the investment climate, policy framework, and incentives in Cambodia. Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed gratitude to JCA for its efforts in promoting Cambodia's potential and attracting Japanese investment. He expressed strong confidence that this excellent cooperation will serve as a model for attracting more Japanese investors to Cambodia in the future. The Prime Minister specifically highlighted the ongoing cooperation to transform the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port into a regional hub and logistics center, and expressed firm hope for the emergence and growth of the Cambodia-Japan Special Economic Zone. In conclusion, Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the JCA delegation to continue close discussions and cooperation with Cambodian ministries and institutions to ensure the success of investments and bilateral cooperation.
