Cambodia Honors 27 Exemplary Commune/Sangkat Chiefs and Deputies for Service

The Cambodian government has awarded honorary medals and labor medals to approximately 27 commune/sangkat chiefs and first deputies who have performed their duties in serving the citizens with excellence and actively contributed to local development. The awarding ceremony took place during the plenary meeting to summarize the work achievements of the 5th mandate commune/sangkat councils, presided over by His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on September 8, 2026, at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel in Phnom Penh. This conferral of honorary medals and labor medals is a high recognition and evaluation of the strenuous efforts and excellent achievements of these local leaders who have dedicated their physical and mental strength to serving the people and actively contributing to the development of their localities and the nation as a whole. Among the 27 recipients, 8 are women, highlighting the promotion of women's roles in leadership and public affairs. Nineteen commune/sangkat chiefs and first deputies received the Royal Order of Cambodia in various ranks, including Moha Serey Vutthis, Moha Sena, Sena, and Assary. Meanwhile, 8 commune/sangkat chiefs were awarded the Labor Gold Medal and Labor Silver Medal. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha expressed his admiration for the commune/sangkat councils and all officials who have diligently fulfilled their responsibilities with dedication and sacrifice in serving their nation and citizens. His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the dedication of physical strength, intellect, and a high sense of responsibility by the commune/sangkat councils, chiefs, clerks, village officials, and public servants at all levels serves as an excellent model for serving the motherland and the people with loyalty and tireless effort. His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha added that these efforts are not only a source of pride for the local administration but also represent dignity, maturity, and progress, continuously strengthening democracy and local governance.
