Dien Bien Province Seeks Stronger Ties with Laos and China

Dien Bien Province in northern Vietnam is seeking to strengthen cooperation with northern Laos and China to promote trade and exports and imports. At the conference on trade promotion and export-import development in the northern region for 2026, held on the afternoon of September 18 and organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Dien Bien Province, representatives from many businesses in Dien Bien expressed their desire for continued support and market information regarding northern Lao provinces and China. Dien Bien Province, under Vietnam's one-party system, considers revitalizing the local economy and strengthening economic ties in border areas as key policy priorities. Relations with neighboring Laos and China are strategically important from the perspectives of logistics, trade, and investment. The province's economic growth is structured to be driven not only by the domestic market but also by connections with neighboring countries. This conference served as a platform to concretely advance economic exchanges between these regions.
