Poipet Governor Pushes for Local-Led Development in Road Repair Initiative

In Poipet Province, Cambodia, on July 28, 2026, following the completion of a mission to assist farmers affected by crop damage due to El Niño and delayed dry seasons, Governor Koy Rida led a concrete repair campaign to fill potholes on the damaged section of National Road 154D in Bakan District. This rural development road connects National Road 5 in Boeung Khnar Commune to Me Teuk Commune and had suffered severe damage. The immediate intervention aims to ensure rapid transportation connectivity for the residents and to facilitate the smooth transportation of agricultural products and the daily commutes of the people, ensuring safety and comfort. Speaking while directly leading the operation, Governor Koy Rida firmly stated, "We must not think of waiting solely for national budget allocations. District, commune, and village authorities must devise methods and continue to mobilize development partners as well as residents to jointly take measures to resolve issues for our people to travel easily." The governor also added that this infrastructure intervention and restoration activity is a significant model that he wishes to inspire all cities and districts across Poipet Province to emulate and take similar actions as Boeung Khnar Commune, aiming to strengthen cooperation and the spirit of ownership for the doubled development of their respective localities. On behalf of the Poipet Provincial Administration, the governor expressed strong confidence that through the efforts under the spirit of cooperation between the authorities and the people, it will continue to be a crucial driving force in effectively resolving various challenges for the utmost benefit of the local residents.
