Mekong, July 28 The military council forces have killed one local resident and arrested over 40 people in the Chaung Hnget village tract of Ywangan Township, southern Shan State. Following a battle between the military council and the Dano Revolutionary Army near Chaung Hnget village on July 22, the military council forces entered Chaung Hnget and North Kone villages, arresting and killing local residents. According to a Dano military source, the military council forces who entered the villages arrested over 40 local residents from July 25 to 27, and they have not yet been released. The source also stated that one local resident of Chaung Hnget died due to torture during the military's advance. "They are beating the locals because they were injured in the fighting. They arrested them by going house to house. Not a single man has been released yet. One person was killed. The locals are also fleeing, so we are still investigating who was killed," the source said. The military council has released only some elderly women among those arrested, and the remaining local residents have not yet been released. Furthermore, locals who escaped arrest are no longer able to stay in the village and are forced to flee and hide. "Currently, the military council forces are stationed in the village.
