Prabowo Signals Potential Cabinet Reshuffle Around Two-Year Mark

Indonesian President Prabowo has stated that the two-year mark of his administration is an appropriate time to consider a cabinet reshuffle. He suggested that two years is sufficient time for ministers to demonstrate their capabilities. Speaking on the program "Presiden Prabowo Menjawab" on Friday (18/9), Prabowo commented that two years is a "logical" period, allowing each minister adequate time to prove their abilities. He emphasized that his team's performance is continuously evaluated. As an example, Prabowo cited the achievement of food self-sufficiency. The target, initially set for four years, was reportedly met within one year under the leadership of the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman. This success was presented as evidence of ministerial competence. While acknowledging that the reasons for a reshuffle can be varied, Prabowo stressed the priority of placing "the right man in the right place" based on "competence." He added that if someone is not suitable for their position, they must be replaced. Since Prabowo's administration began in October 2024, there have been six cabinet reshuffles. The first occurred in February 2025, involving a change in the Minister of Science and Technology. Most recently, the Minister of Finance was replaced on Monday, September 14, 2026, with the former Deputy Minister of Finance taking over the role.
