Rubber business owner who illegally obtained and used electricity was prosecuted

Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation announced that a rubber business owner who illegally obtained and used electricity in Wa Na Chaung village, Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region, has been prosecuted under the Electricity Law. It was found during an investigation on July 13 that the cover of a digital meter connected to a transformer used at the rubber business owned by U San Oo in Wa Na Chaung village had been tampered with, and electricity had been stolen. Due to this illegal use, over 440,000 units of electricity were lost, and the business owner was ordered to pay approximately 301.8 million kyats to Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation as compensation for the lost electricity and as a penalty. The meter was to be immediately removed, and the electricity supply was to be cut off for six months. Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation also announced that if the business owner who obtained and used electricity through illegal means does not pay the fine within 14 days, they will be prosecuted in accordance with the Electricity Law.
