Indonesia Permanently Closes 833 'MBG Kitchens' for Violating Standards, Most Outside Java

Indonesia's National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) has taken the step of permanently closing 833 'MBG kitchens' after violations of food safety standards were confirmed. This represents the largest number of closures implemented outside the island of Java. This measure is part of a comprehensive effort by BPOM to ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards across the country. The 'MBG kitchens' that were closed were found to have not met the stipulated hygiene and quality control standards in their food production and preparation processes. BPOM intends to further strengthen its monitoring and regulation of the entire food supply chain to protect public health and safety. Particularly in regions outside Java, where many small local businesses operate, ensuring compliance with standards has been a challenge. This action is expected to raise awareness of food safety management in these areas and promote the effective application of regulations.
