Cambodia Conducts Border Defense Skills Enhancement Training

The 601st Border Guard Unit of Cambodia held an opening ceremony for a border defense skills enhancement training course for its officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers at the unit's headquarters on July 1, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Major General Mao Saphoun, Deputy Commander of the Special Military Region, representing the Commander of the Special Military Region. In his welcoming report, Colonel Lon Luch, Commander of the 601st Border Guard Unit, expressed his profound gratitude to the Deputy Commander of the Special Military Region for gracing the opening ceremony with his valuable presence. During his address, Major General Mao Saphoun commended the 601st Border Guard Unit for its diligent efforts in fulfilling its core duties, constructing its barracks, and successfully executing tasks assigned by superiors, noting the consistent positive outcomes. Furthermore, the Deputy Commander urged all trainees to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the training, paying close attention to the instructors' lessons, both in the classroom and on the training grounds. This effort is crucial for enhancing individual capabilities to match the advancements in modern military technology. He also emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to military discipline and orders, fostering strong internal solidarity under all circumstances, and living as a collective unit where soldiers support and guide each other as comrades-in-arms.
