Strong low pressure system to cause heavy rain in 7 regions and states within the next 48 hours

Due to a strong low pressure system over the northern coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha states in India and the northwestern Bay of Bengal, heavy rain is expected within the next two days, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) announced today, August 31. It is known that heavy rain may occur in scattered areas in the upper Sagaing region, Tanintharyi region, Chin State, Kayin State, Mon State, and Shan State (South) within the next two days. In tomorrow's weather forecast, scattered thunderstorms are possible in Magway region and Kayah State, while heavy rain is possible in scattered areas in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing region, Tanintharyi region, Kachin State, Chin State, Kayin State, and Mon State. Furthermore, the DMH has warned that strong winds and heavy rain are expected along the Myanmar coast and offshore, with wind speeds ranging from 30 to 50 miles per hour and wave heights of 10 to 12 feet. The strong low pressure system is forecast to move west-northwest within the next 24 hours and may cross the northern parts of Odisha and West Bengal states in India.
