Jokowi's Diploma Case: Dr. Tifa's Trial Postponed to August 13

The trial of Dr. Tifauzia Tyassuma, widely known as Dokter Tifa, concerning allegations about the academic qualifications of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has been postponed. The East Jakarta District Court (PN Jaktim) had initially scheduled the hearing for August 6 but has now rescheduled it for August 13, citing the presiding judge's unavailability due to official duties. Immanuel, spokesperson for PN Jaktim, confirmed the postponement, stating that the chief judge was unable to attend the hearing on August 6 because they were participating in an official examination. Earlier, on Monday, August 3, Dokter Tifa filed a pre-trial motion with the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) to test the legality of the prosecution's termination of the case. This motion was registered under case number 132/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. Immanuel could not yet confirm whether the postponement of Dokter Tifa's trial was related to this pre-trial motion, stating, "Regarding the postponement due to the pre-trial, there has been no confirmation from the panel of judges." The trial for the case of alleged forged diplomas of Jokowi, with Dokter Tifa as the defendant, is resuming after the Public Prosecutor's Office (JPU) revised the indictment and resubmitted the case file to PN Jaktim on Wednesday, July 27, under case number 354/Pid.B/2026/PN Jaktim. Immanuel noted that the trial proceedings would start anew with the JPU reading the revised indictment. This follows the judges' decision to grant Dokter Tifa's exception, declaring the JPU's indictment imprecise and vague, thus legally void and preventing the case from proceeding to the evidentiary stage.
