161 Gas Stations in Indonesia Sanctioned Over Subsidized Fuel Distribution Violations

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the commercial and trading subholding of Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, has imposed sanctions on 161 gas stations (SPBU) in the South Sumatra (Sumbagsel) region for violations related to the distribution of subsidized fuel. The company has been intensifying its supervision to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel adheres to the stipulated regulations and reaches its intended recipients. As a result of monitoring activities conducted from January 1 to September 3, 2026, 161 SPBUs were found to have committed violations. Rusminto Wahyudi, Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR for Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel, stated, "Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strengthen supervision at all SPBUs. If any non-compliance in the distribution of subsidized fuel is found, we will follow up in accordance with applicable regulations. This is part of our effort to ensure that subsidized fuel distribution is right on target." According to him, the imposition of sanctions is a step to enforce regulations and provide guidance to the distribution agents. Pertamina Patra Niaga also continues to coordinate with various relevant parties in conducting field supervision. The SPBUs that have been sanctioned in the Sumbagsel region as of September 3, 2026, include 10 in Bengkulu, 17 in Jambi, 31 in Bangka Belitung Islands, 69 in Lampung, and 34 in South Sumatra, totaling 161 SPBUs. Monitoring is carried out through various mechanisms, including transaction monitoring, digitalization via the "Subsidi Tepat" (Right Subsidy) program, QR code and vehicle data verification, and monitoring of operational activities at SPBUs. Pertamina Patra Niaga also continues to coordinate with SPBU operators to ensure that all distribution agents carry out their operational activities in accordance with the established regulations. "We urge all SPBUs in the Sumbagsel region to carry out the distribution of subsidized fuel according to procedures and regulations. We also invite the public to jointly monitor the distribution of subsidized fuel. If you find indications of misuse or obstacles in service, you can report it through the Pertamina Contact Center 135," Rusminto added. Pertamina Patra Niaga assures that supervision and evaluation of distribution agents will continue to be carried out periodically as part of its commitment to providing safe, targeted, and accountable energy services for the community in the Sumbagsel region.
