Vietnam Second Most Popular Destination for Korean Tourists

Vietnam continues to be a favored travel destination for South Korean tourists, ranking second only to Japan. In 2023, approximately 278,000 Korean visitors chose Vietnam, underscoring the vibrant tourism exchange between the two nations. Japan maintained its top position, attracting about 951,000 Korean visitors, which accounted for 40.6% of total outbound tourists. Following Vietnam, the United States ranked third with around 100,000 visitors, followed by Taiwan (China) with 79,000, Thailand with 64,000, the Philippines with 61,000, and Hong Kong (China) with 59,000. This data suggests Vietnam's established position as a key tourism hub in Southeast Asia. The Vietnamese government prioritizes tourism development as a significant pillar of economic growth, aiming to attract more international visitors through infrastructure improvements and promotional activities. Under its one-party system, Vietnam places a strong emphasis on economic growth, with the tourism sector contributing substantially to foreign exchange earnings and job creation. South Korea is also a crucial economic partner for Vietnam, with close ties in investment and trade. The increase in people-to-people exchanges is expected to further strengthen these economic linkages.
