Russia, US, China Leaders May Hold Trilateral Meeting at APEC

MOSCOW: Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov said on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping may hold a trilateral meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November. When asked by state television about the possibility of such a summit, Ushakov replied, "This issue has already been discussed, and indeed it has." He added that all three leaders are expected to attend the APEC summit, and if it materializes as suggested, a joint meeting of the three leaders could take place. Ushakov made these remarks from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where Putin and Xi attended a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Russia, China, and the United States are all members of APEC, which comprises 21 economies. This year's APEC summit is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 18-19. Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that there have been no announcements yet regarding President Trump's participation in the APEC summit.
