Former Cambodian migrant worker Kim Teng, who returned from Thailand, highlighted the significance of skills recognition tests (RPL) in expanding domestic employment opportunities, increasing income, and achieving regional skill recognition. He is confident that a skills certificate is a crucial factor for career advancement. "Job opportunities and income are both important. When seeking employment, having a skills certificate gives us high priority for acceptance by companies. There are also many jobs available in Cambodia," Teng stated. He urged fellow returnees from Thailand who have not yet obtained skills certificates to take the RPL test to facilitate their future employment. Teng explained that the skills test offers three main benefits to former migrant workers: first, easier domestic job placement; second, higher remuneration than before; and third, recognition from countries across Asia. Former migrant workers returning from Thailand who are unemployed due to the lack of skills certificates are encouraged to take the RPL test to receive official recognition from the Ministry of Labour, free of charge. This opens doors to jobs with higher incomes, better social benefits, and improved safety.
