Mizzima. — A video clip of soldiers arrested on charges of assaulting a woman is circulating on social media. A video clip showing three soldiers, who were arrested with shackles on their feet, surrounded by other soldiers, began to spread on June 20 from an account named ‘Ko Ko Theinkha Thu’ with the caption, “Video clip spreads of a local man becoming enraged over allegations of assaulting a woman.” The clip shows people surrounding and restraining others who are angry at those arrested with shackles, with one person saying, “This guy raped my sister, this guy.” This distribution does not include specific references to who, where, or when. It has been re-shared on military junta propaganda Telegram channels with the caption, “NUG rape, NLD rape, even ethnic terrorist groups have now caught the NLD virus and NUG habits during the early spring. For the first time in my life, things unheard of in ethnic areas are being shouted about…” (as written in the original). Mizzima has fact-checked the content of this video and confirmed that it is a film set. A video uploaded in June 2025 from the Facebook page “Lose and Hope – Revolution Film” shows that the current circulating video and the situations are identical. It is written, “A video posted on Army Day recently became very popular. In fact, this video is a scene from the movie Lose and Hope.” (as written in the original).
