Cambodia's Kratie Province Upgrades Key Mekong Riverside Road 279

In Kratie Province, northeastern Cambodia, paving work is progressing on Provincial Road 279, a significant route situated along the Mekong River. This road serves as a crucial transport artery, connecting Stueng Trang district in Kampong Cham Province with Prek Prasap district in Kratie and Siem Bok district in Stung Treng Province, spanning approximately 140 kilometers along the Mekong. Currently, the road is being gradually paved to DBST (Double Bitumen Surface Treatment) standards, though the project is not yet 100% complete. Kratie Province has seen considerable infrastructure development in recent years, with the establishment of numerous key road networks. This has transformed the province, once relatively isolated, into a region increasingly connected by a dense network of transportation routes. Within Kratie Province, seven major national roads are identified as significant infrastructure. National Road 7, approximately 198.10 kilometers long, is an AC (Asphalt Concrete) road connecting Memot district in Tboung Khmum Province with five districts in Kratie (Snuol, Chit Borei, Kracheh City, Sambour, and Ou Krieng Sen Chey) before reaching the border with Stung Treng Province. Other key national roads include: - National Road 60B, 41.67 kilometers long, linking the border with Kampong Thom Province to the Khla Stuh roundabout in Kracheh City, an AC road. - National Road 74, 21.28 kilometers long, connecting Kbal Trach village in Snuol district to Trapaing Sre Krau village in 2 Thnou commune, bordering Vietnam, a DBST road. - National Road 76, 49.10 kilometers long, connecting Snuol village (Snuol roundabout) to the border with Mondulkiri Province, a DBST road. - National Road 73, 43 kilometers long, connecting Tboung Khmum Province and Kratie Province, from Kampong Reang bridge in Tambaok district and Chhloung district to the provincial capital of Kratie, a DBST road. Additionally, Provincial Road 377, 48.59 kilometers long, connects Kracheh City with Sambour district, an AC road. Provincial Road 371 runs along the west bank of the Mekong River, connecting Krachumear district in Tboung Khmum Province with Chhloung district in Kratie Province. These infrastructure developments are expected to enhance the accessibility and economic potential of Kratie Province. The ongoing upgrades to Provincial Road 279, in particular, are anticipated to stimulate regional economic activity and improve the quality of life for residents.
