Manila Poised for First IT Park as Economic Zone Moratorium Lifted

MANILA, Philippines — With the lifting of the moratorium on new economic zones in Metro Manila, the country’s capital could soon welcome its first information technology (IT) park, potentially drawing more high-value investments into the city. According to Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) Director General Tereso Panga, e-commerce marketing agency Star Digital Solutions is already preparing for the establishment of the IT park. The IT park is seen as a crucial development that will boost the country’s digital economy and attract more high-value investments. "This is a significant development that will boost our digital economy and attract more high-value investments into the capital," Panga said. The PEZA chief also said the agency is working to streamline the process of establishing new economic zones, especially in Metro Manila. "We are committed to making it easier for businesses to invest in the Philippines and create jobs for our people," Panga added. The lifting of the moratorium on new economic zones in Metro Manila is expected to pave the way for more investments in various sectors, including IT, manufacturing, and tourism. "We are optimistic that this will lead to a more vibrant and dynamic economy for the Philippines," Panga said.
