Quezon City Submerged by Afternoon Downpour

Several areas in Quezon City were submerged in floodwaters following heavy rains brought by localized thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon, the local government said. As of 2:50 p.m., the local government listed areas affected by flood, including Brgy. Central with ankle-deep water (up to 9 inches), and deeper floods reaching gutter-level in other locations. These downpours were attributed to thunderstorms, a localized weather phenomenon distinct from monsoons or tropical depressions. The Philippines, particularly during its rainy season (June to November), is prone to sudden, intense rainfall. Urban areas often experience flooding when rainfall exceeds the capacity of drainage systems. Quezon City, being one of the most populous cities in Metro Manila, faces challenges with infrastructure development in some parts, making such weather events directly impactful on residents' daily lives.
