Myanmar President Visits Luang Prabang, Reinforces Friendship and Cooperation

Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing visited Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city, as part of his state visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The president and his delegation were welcomed by Bounleua Sinxayvoravong, Deputy Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Luang Prabang Province. During his visit, President Min Aung Hlaing paid a courtesy call on Bounleuam Manivong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee, and President of the Luang Prabang Provincial People's Council, at the Souphattra Hotel. On behalf of the provincial authorities and the multi-ethnic people of Luang Prabang, Bounleuam extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation, describing the visit as another important milestone in strengthening the longstanding friendship, solidarity, and close cooperation between Laos and Myanmar. He also briefed the delegation on the province's socio-economic development and highlighted Luang Prabang's role as one of the Lao PDR's leading cultural and tourism destinations. President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the provincial leadership and people of Luang Prabang. Both sides exchanged views on further enhancing friendship and promoting cooperation between Luang Prabang Province and Myanmar. To mark the occasion, the provincial authorities hosted a traditional Baci ceremony in honor of the Myanmar President and his delegation, offering blessings for good health, prosperity, and success. During their stay in Luang Prabang, President Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation also visited the Luang Prabang National Museum and Wat Xieng Thong, two of the province's most renowned cultural heritage sites that showcase the rich history, architecture, and cultural identity of the Lao PDR. National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane held talks with President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on July 3 in Vientiane during the Myanmar leader’s state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to deepening parliamentary cooperation and expanding bilateral relations. President Thongloun Sisoulith on July 3 extended a congratulatory message to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Malaysia. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone held talks with President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on July 3 in Vientiane during the Myanmar leader’s state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation. Laos and Malaysia officially launched celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations at a ceremony in Vientiane on July 3, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional partnership. President Thongloun Sisoulith and President Min Aung Hlaing reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and expanding cooperation between Laos and Myanmar during official talks in Vientiane on July 3, held as part of the Myanmar leader’s state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5.
