Ministry of Home Affairs Honors Outstanding Regional Governments in Sulawesi Region

The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) continues to encourage regional governments (Pemda) to improve performance through innovation and strengthening public services. One such effort was realized through the "2026 Outstanding Regional Government Appreciation Batch II Regional Sulawesi" event held at Hotel Claro, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, on Friday (18/9). In this event, several provincial, regency, and city-level regions in the Sulawesi region received awards for their achievements in four categories: 1. Access and quality of health services. 2. Implementation of the "Three Million Houses" program. 3. Management of ASRI (Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah - Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) waste and environment. 4. Access and education services. "This event is a series of activities that we have reported to the Coordinating Minister [Polkam], which is a program to provide fiscal incentives by assessing various criteria related to regional governance," said Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian in an official statement. The appreciation event is divided into six regions: Sumatra; Kalimantan; Sulawesi; Java-Bali; Maluku-Nusa Tenggara; and Papua. This regional division is expected to create more balanced competition by considering the fiscal capabilities of each region. "Because if the competition is national, regions with strong fiscal capabilities tend to dominate the winners," Karnavian stated. For the category of access and quality of health services, the provincial level awards went to Gorontalo Province and Southeast Sulawesi Province. At the regency level, awards were given to Barru, Banggai, and Pangkajene and Islands (Pangkep). For the city level, recipients were Kendari, Baubau, and Gorontalo. In the implementation of the "Three Million Houses" program, provincial awards were given to South Sulawesi Province and West Sulawesi Province. At the regency level, recipients were Morowali, Soppeng, and Donggala. For the city level, awards went to Makassar, Manado, and Bitung. Meanwhile, for the ASRI waste and environment management category, provincial awards were secured by South Sulawesi Province and Southeast Sulawesi Province. At the regency level, awards were given to East Luwu, Tana Toraja, and Sidenreng Rappang. City-level recipients were Parepare, Palu, and Kotamobagu. For the access and education services category, provincial awards went to North Sulawesi Province and Central Sulawesi Province. At the regency level, recipients were Enrekang, North Morowali, and Sinjai. For the city level, awards were given to Palopo, Makassar, and Parepare. The event was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives Taufan Pawe, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus, Deputy Head of the Central Statistics Agency Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, as well as regional heads and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) from across Sulawesi.
