Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has revealed details about a lottery fraud scheme orchestrated by popular YouTuber Bui Xuan Huan, known as 'Huấn Hoa Hồng'. He allegedly defrauded individuals by claiming to know lottery results in advance. Other influencers are also under investigation.
At the regular government press conference held on the afternoon of September 3rd, representatives from the Ministry of Public Security informed the press about several cases involving individuals who are YouTubers, TikTokers, and Facebookers, such as Bui Xuan Huan (known as 'Huấn Hoa Hồng'), Le Van Phu (known as 'Phú Lê'), and Vu Hoang Hai (known as 'Hải SapaTV'). Specifically, regarding Bui Xuan Huan, he is suspected of defrauding people by falsely claiming to know lottery results in advance and thereby appropriating their money. The police indicated that this fraudulent act was carried out by leveraging his fame as an influencer. In Vietnam, with the increasing prevalence of social media in recent years, information dissemination by influencers has had a significant impact on society. On the other hand, there have been reports of some influencers engaging in inappropriate or illegal activities, prompting authorities to strengthen their oversight. This case once again highlights the importance of information ethics and legal regulations in the digital space. Under Vietnam's one-party system, maintaining social order and protecting citizens' interests are prioritized, and such fraudulent activities tend to be strictly cracked down upon. In Vietnam, which continues to experience economic growth, healthy information flow and consumer protection are crucial issues for sustainable social development.
