Nghe An Province: Over 7,200 Workers Receive Unemployment Benefits in First Half of Year

In Vietnam's central Nghe An province, the Nghe An Employment Service Center reported receiving 7,904 applications for unemployment benefits during the first six months of this year (January-June). The center has processed and approved 7,272 of these applications, disbursing a total of nearly 179.8 billion Vietnamese Dong (approximately $7.3 million USD). This figure represents a 12.34% increase compared to the same period last year. While Vietnam's economy continues to grow, shifts in industrial structure and fluctuations in the global economy can impact the labor market. Certain sectors, in particular, may experience employment instability due to changes in demand or intensified international competition. The rise in unemployment benefit recipients in Nghe An province may indicate that these macroeconomic factors are manifesting at the regional level. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government is committed to enhancing social security policies to ensure the stability of unemployed workers' livelihoods.
