US Pledges $3 Million for Cambodia's Demining and Humanitarian Aid

The US Embassy has reiterated its commitment to supporting programs in Cambodia focused on demining, humanitarian aid, and strengthening trade and investment conditions between the two nations. Ms. Aleks Zittle, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, hosted a meeting in Siem Reap Province, bringing together health experts, provincial leaders, demining practitioners, and other American partners. The gathering facilitated an exchange of views and aimed to enhance practical cooperation on health security, mine clearance, and humanitarian support for those affected by border conflicts. Building on these efforts, the United States proudly announced a new three-year partnership worth $3 million with the demining organization APOPO. This initiative will concentrate on clearing landmines in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces, as well as unexploded ordnance in Mondulkiri Province, to reclaim safe and productive agricultural land and ensure future security for Cambodian families. The US takes pride in supporting programs that yield tangible results for both Cambodia and the United States. This work helps reduce health and security threats while simultaneously increasing American business opportunities and investments in Cambodia.
