The Philippine Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved over 26,000 new positions for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Notably, 5,703 positions are allocated to bolster the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), aiming to enhance social welfare service delivery.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved more than 26,000 positions in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), including about 5,703 posts to strengthen operations of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). The latest staffing action covers 5,711 regular positions in DSWD, of which 5,703 are for the institutionalization of the 4Ps. The 4Ps program, also known as the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program, aims to reduce poverty and human capital development by providing cash grants to eligible households to improve their children's health and education. DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the approval was in line with the Marcos administration’s commitment to strengthen social protection programs. “The approval of these positions will help the DSWD to implement its programs more effectively and reach more beneficiaries,” Pangandaman said. She added that the new positions would also help create jobs and boost the economy. The DSWD is one of the lead agencies in the government’s poverty alleviation efforts.
