Antique to Face Heaviest Rains as Southwest Monsoon Intensifies

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced on Thursday afternoon that the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Depression Maymay, will continue to affect parts of Western Visayas. Antique province is particularly expected to receive the heaviest rainfall on Friday, with residents urged to be vigilant. According to Pagasa, Antique province will experience cloudy skies with heavy rains on Friday. The monsoon is predicted to impact the entire Visayas region, especially Western Visayas. The southwest monsoon is a weather phenomenon that frequently occurs during the rainy season in the Philippines, often causing widespread floods and landslides. When a tropical depression intensifies the monsoon, rainfall increases, heightening the risk of damage. Preparations for such natural disasters are consistently required in the Philippines.
