Online gamblers arrested with equipment in Mandalay city

It has been reported from the Regional Police Chief’s Office that individuals involved in online gambling were arrested along with equipment in Mandalay city around 6:30 PM on September 8. Upon receiving information that online gambling was being conducted in a house located between 31st and 64th Streets in Pyigyimyathazin Ward, Chanayethazan Township, a team comprising the Mahaaungmyay District Police Force and the Chanayethazan Township Police Force entered and inspected the premises around 6:30 PM on September 8. During the inspection, 150 million kyats in cash, 6 computers, 1 laptop, 1 computer monitor, 14 mobile phones, 2 Wi-Fi devices, and 1 CCTV were seized, and 2 males and 5 females were arrested, it was learned. According to the interrogation of the female leader, she established the operation in her home in 2024 and paid two employees between 300,000 and 500,000 kyats per month. She purchased the Goldeni Star Online poker game for 150 million kyats from the Goldeni Star Online account on the internet from South Korea. Her relatives at home played the game, and she conducted the deposit and withdrawal operations using the K-pay accounts of Thitar Oo K-pay, Thae Mon Oo K-pay, Hlaing Win K-pay, and Thinzaw Htet K-pay, it was learned. Regarding the arrests, a police official explained, "What was caught this time is a poker game. It's something that is played after downloading the software. In other words, it's online gambling. The jade that was caught the other day, selling it live and then blocking the money transfer, is online fraud. Since they are committing fraud online in various ways, they must be prosecuted under the Electronic Law. Because these kinds of online fraud and online gambling involve technology, the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) has taken over all the cases to conduct further detailed investigations." It is reported that the arrested individuals are being investigated at the No. 3 Police Station. Furthermore, on September 2, 28 individuals involved in online fraud, including foreigners, were arrested in Mandalay city along with approximately 600 mobile phones and related equipment.
