AKP Phnom Penh, July 14, 2026 -- Outgoing German Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Stefan Messerer has described the relations between Germany and Cambodia as strong and growing partnership. During a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Monday afternoon, H.E. Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of bilateral relations and thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its warm support throughout his diplomatic mission. The outgoing diplomat highlighted the positive cooperation between the two countries across a wide range of sectors, particularly through regular political dialogue and exchanges of high-level visits. H.E. Stefan Messerer said Germany and Cambodia have maintained an open and sincere partnership and expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to deepen in the years ahead. He also pointed to untapped opportunities to expand cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, agro-industry and tourism, emphasising that Cambodia is a safe destination for international travellers. For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet commended the Ambassador's active role in strengthening bilateral relations and welcomed the continued expansion of cooperation, particularly in education and vocational training. The Prime Minister also stressed that Cambodia and Germany have significant potential to enhance economic and trade cooperation by fostering stronger private-sector partnerships. Samdech Thipadei outlined the Royal Government's policies to support agricultural development and value-added processing of strategic products, including cashew nuts and rice, to increase exports to international markets. Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed H.E. Stefan Messerer on recent developments regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border situation, reiterating Cambodia's commitment to resolve the border issues peacefully in accordance with international laws, existing treaties and bilateral agreements, while the Ambassador affirmed Germany's support for a peaceful settlement based on international laws.
