Vietnam Weather: Showers in South, Sunny Spells in North

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting in Vietnam issued its weather outlook for September 26. Northern regions are expected to enjoy sunny conditions throughout the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, central Vietnam (up to Hue), the Central Highlands, and southern regions will experience continuous showers and thunderstorms, with some areas potentially seeing heavy rainfall, particularly from the afternoon into the evening. Localized downpours are anticipated in the eastern parts of Lam Dong province. At sea, the southern Gulf of Tonkin, from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, and the southern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands) are forecast to have showers and thunderstorms. These conditions carry a high risk of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind at level 7-8, with sea waves exceeding 2 meters. All vessels operating in these areas are warned of the potential impact from tornadoes and strong winds. In Hanoi, the capital city will see sunny skies during the day, with temperatures ranging from a low of 24-26°C to a high of 31-33°C. Northwestern and northeastern regions are also expected to be sunny, with highs reaching around 34°C. In contrast, coastal areas from Thanh Hoa to Hue will experience rain, with temperatures between 28-32°C. The south-central coast, except for eastern Lam Dong, will have sparse rain, with temperatures at 30-33°C. The Central Highlands will primarily see rain from the afternoon into the evening, with temperatures at 28-31°C. Southern Vietnam as a whole is forecast to have rain, with Ho Chi Minh City experiencing lows of 23-25°C and highs of 30-32°C. Separately, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction has proposed an expenditure of approximately VND 16 billion (around USD 630,000) to reinforce a section of the Prenn Pass in Da Lat, which is prone to continuous landslides, by using steel netting, and has requested immediate construction.
