Banga High School Shooting: Grade 9 Suspect Reportedly Warned Classmates

Three students were killed in a shooting incident at Banga National High School in Banga, South Cotabato. According to local authorities, the suspect, a Grade 9 student, reportedly warned his friends before the incident, saying, "You should go home after lunch, because I will do something. You might get caught up in it." His classmates reportedly laughed, thinking he was joking. Banga Mayor Albert Palencia stated that the suspect brought two magazines for a 9mm gun. After opening fire on other students, the suspect is believed to have turned the gun on himself after changing magazines. The firearm reportedly belonged to the suspect's father, an employee of the Department of Education (DepEd Region 12). The mayor explained that the gun was kept in a vault at home, but the child broke into the vault and took the weapon to school. The father was reportedly in General Santos City at the time, teaching about child safety. Furthermore, it was revealed that the suspect's mother was planning to take her child for psychiatric help. It was also disclosed that the suspect's sibling was a teacher at the same high school.
