Minesat District Judge U San Htun Oo Demanded to Be Transferred for Treating Subordinates Like Slaves

Mekong, July 27 Subordinates of U San Htun Oo, the district judge of Minesat District Court in eastern Shan State, have appealed through Mekong News to the relevant senior authorities, demanding his swift removal and transfer from his position, citing his treatment of subordinates as akin to slaves and his oppressive behavior. According to his subordinates, District Judge U San Htun Oo has continuously engaged in exploitative and oppressive conduct towards his staff since the day he assumed duties at the Minesat District Court. "Even during morning roll calls, we have to do everything we are told. Even subordinates who endure silently without complaint are constantly being pushed to resign. Now, they are making plans with various excuses for subordinates not to come to the office next Wednesday. In a period of exorbitant price increases, without any empathy for the subordinates, and only considering his own convenience, we want to demand the swift removal of such a person who always treats us like slaves, and to bring this to the attention of the higher-ups," said one of the subordinates. Furthermore, it is known that the district judge has illegally rented out the official residence assigned to him for official duties to outsiders for 50,000 kyats per month, while he himself resides within the court premises where he is not permitted to live. It is also reported that he has been illegally withdrawing 400,000 kyats monthly for fuel for a motor vehicle, without having traveled anywhere for a considerable period. "They impose the minimum sentence after taking money for drug cases. It's the worst during his tenure; no matter how many narcotic pills are seized, they only give a 10-year prison sentence after taking money," stated another subordinate. It is understood that the subordinates wish to submit a request to the State Chief Justice and the Union Chief Justice to promptly remove and transfer U San Htun Oo, the district judge of Minesat District, who is oppressing his subordinates and abusing his authority.
