Laos Authorities Cite Investigation Limits in Vang Vieng Tourist Deaths

Laotian authorities have stated that their investigation into the deaths of six foreign tourists from methanol-contaminated alcohol in Vang Vieng is limited, as the families refused autopsies, hindering the identification of culprits and prosecution of serious charges. While methanol contamination was confirmed in tests conducted in Thailand, legal responsibility remains unclear.
