Battambang Governor Inspects, Supports Drug Rehabilitation Centers

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – August 7, 2026 – Governor of Battambang Province, Sok Lu, visited drug rehabilitation centers in the province on August 7, engaging with individuals undergoing treatment and providing donations. The governor met with drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation and presented aid to the "World of Hope" Center in Bawel District and the "Kea Sinnuon" Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Ratanak Mondul District. During his address, HE Sok Lu urged those undergoing drug rehabilitation to strive for self-improvement. He emphasized that upon returning home, they should actively contribute to their families' work, avoid associating with negative influences that could lead to harmful actions affecting themselves, their families, and the nation. Governor Lu expressed his full support for the National Authority for Combating Drugs, which permits center directors to allow inpatients to engage in external work. This initiative aims to help individuals in rehabilitation dedicate themselves to becoming good citizens, acquiring various vocational skills and knowledge to sustain themselves after leaving the centers. Battambang Province hosts two drug addiction treatment centers: the state-run "World of Hope" Center in Bawel District and the private "Kea Sinnuon" Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Ratanak Mondul District. Both centers are actively providing treatment, care, psychological support, and vocational training to individuals affected by drug use, with the goal of enabling them to overcome addiction and successfully reintegrate into society.
