Quang Ninh Province Launches Art Contest Ahead of Central City Status

Quang Ninh Province in northern Vietnam has launched a creation contest for poetry, music, and photography to celebrate its upcoming elevation to a centrally-governed city. The contest aims to reflect the province's 63-year journey of construction and development, highlighting its outstanding achievements and future vision. The launch event, held on July 2nd by the Propaganda and Mobilization Department of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, opens participation to a wide range of individuals, including artists, journalists, public officials, students, military personnel, and foreigners residing or working in Quang Ninh. Submissions will be accepted from July 2nd until August 28th, 2026. Each author can submit a maximum of five works per genre. Nguyen Thi Hanh, head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mobilization Department, emphasized that Quang Ninh's official transition to a centrally-governed city marks a significant milestone for its breakthrough development. She expressed hope that the contest will stimulate the creativity of artists and journalists, leading to numerous works that promote the image of Quang Ninh as a dynamic and modern province. The organizing committee has requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Ninh Radio and Television, and the Quang Ninh Provincial Association of Literature and Arts to widely publicize the contest through various media, including local information systems and digital platforms. They also plan to send official documents to other provinces and cities nationwide to broaden its reach. Furthermore, arrangements will be made to facilitate authors' field trips to key locations such as coal mines, military units, border areas, and islands within Quang Ninh to inspire their creative work. Tran Thuy Lien, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, urged artists to dedicate their works, imbued with love for their homeland, professional responsibility, and creative aspirations, to enrich cultural life and promote Quang Ninh's image to a broad domestic and international audience. The contest is expected to foster a vibrant literary and artistic movement, igniting creative inspiration among artists and the public. This, in turn, should result in many works of ideological and artistic value, contributing to the promotion of Quang Ninh's dynamic and distinctive identity as it moves towards becoming a centrally-governed city.
