Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Inspects Establishments in Thung Khru for Enhanced Safety Standards

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is intensifying efforts to elevate safety standards for entertainment and dining establishments in the Thung Khru district, aiming to enhance public safety and foster trust. Recently, unannounced inspections were conducted at four such facilities within the district. Ms. Arunyar Porchai, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA, led the inspection along with Mr. Praphen Dit Suwan, Director of Thung Khru District, and other administrative officials. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Radburana Police Station, and Thung Khru Fire Station. The primary objective of the inspections was to verify basic safety systems and emergency response measures. Oversight was carried out in accordance with key legislation, including: Public Health Act B.E. 2535 (1992): Focusing on hygiene and preventing nuisance from late-night noise. Alcoholic Beverage Control Act B.E. 2551 (2008) and Tobacco Products Control Act B.E. 2560 (2017): Ensuring compliance with regulations on the sale and provision of alcohol and tobacco. Building Control Act B.E. 2522 (1979): Assessing building safety, with emphasis on unobstructed fire escape routes, prohibiting locked doors during operation, and inspecting electrical systems, ventilation, and the use of fire-retardant materials. Fire Prevention: Providing guidance on fire prevention and suppression, and checking the readiness of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and exit signs. Public Order and Narcotics: Conducting random urine tests for staff, in coordination with the police, to enforce opening and closing hours, control noise levels, prohibit weapons, and prevent access by minors. The purpose of these inspections is to reduce fire risks and build confidence among patrons. The BMA encourages the public and tourists to act as vigilant eyes and ears, reporting any unsafe establishments through the new "Report Fire Hazard Points" feature on the Traffy Fondue application.
