Awareness Program : Anti-corruption awareness and discussion session

The Ministry of Industry and MSME Development held an anti-corruption awareness and discussion session at the ministry on Friday, in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than, Commission Chairman U Soe Thein and officials attended the event. In his opening speech, the Union Minister emphasized that sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and improving legal awareness on corruption prevention would strengthen employees’ ethics, responsibility, and accountability. He said the rule of law, good governance, transparency, integrity, and accountability are essential foundations for national economic, social and industrial development. Highlighting the impacts of corruption, the Union Minister said it undermines public trust, reduces competitiveness, affects investment and hinders quality services and development. He urged employees to uphold integrity, avoid conflicts of interest, reject improper benefits, follow regulations, and prioritize public interests in carrying out their duties. He also stressed the importance of building a corruption-free organization through transparent governance, effective use of technology and equal access to public services. He called on employees to apply the knowledge gained from the session and contribute to strengthening public trust and good governance. Committee Chairman U Soe Thein also urged all sectors to cooperate in preventing corruption, protecting public interests, and strengthening transparency and the rule of law. During the session, officials from the ACC Office reported corruption prevention measures and relevant laws, while participants raised questions and discussed related issues. The meeting also included discussions between ACC members and the ministry’s corruption prevention units on their experiences, challenges and future efforts.
