Cambodia Warns of Increased Stroke Risk Due to Heatwave, Urges Public Health Precautions

Cambodia is facing an elevated risk of heat-induced strokes due to the ongoing severe heatwave, which has reached unprecedented levels. Health authorities are issuing urgent warnings, emphasizing that this condition is a medical emergency that can lead to severe complications and fatalities. Medical professionals are strongly advising the public to seek immediate assistance if they experience symptoms such as fainting, dizziness, nausea, cessation of sweating, or if someone loses consciousness. While awaiting medical help, the following first-aid measures are recommended: 1. Loosen or remove clothing if possible. 2. Move the affected person to a shaded or air-conditioned area. 3. Apply cool, wet cloths or towels. 4. Use ice packs or a fan. 5. Immerse the person in a cool water bath.
