
Vietnam Rescue Team Continues Operations in Venezuela Amidst Harsh Conditions
Vietnam's rescue team has recovered 11 bodies from rubble during earthquake disaster relief operations in Venezuela, handing them over to local authorities. They continue search efforts with specialized equipment and close coordination amidst harsh conditions.
During operations to address the aftermath of the earthquake in Playa Grande, La Guaira State, Venezuela, on June 30 (local time), the Vietnamese rescue mission, after extensive search efforts, recovered 11 bodies from the rubble and handed them over to Venezuelan authorities. After hours of intensive work, the Vietnamese rescue team successfully recovered the bodies of 11 victims from the rubble and handed them over to Venezuelan authorities. Working under harsh conditions, military and police personnel coordinated closely in multiple search teams, combining their expertise with specialised rescue equipment to locate survivors and victims as quickly and efficiently as possible. The DNA data will be cross-referenced with a database of relatives’ genetic profiles, a step toward identifying the fallen and ending decades of uncertainty for families awaiting word of their loved ones. Over the years, the Vietnamese locality has established cooperative and sister-city relationships with many Korean localities, including Seoul, laying a foundation for boosting economic, trade, cultural, educational cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. Under Decree No. 262/2026/ND-CP, which took effect on July 1, all press activities by foreign media agencies, foreign representative offices, and foreign organisations in Vietnam must receive approval from the competent authorities and comply with Vietnamese law. According to provincial police, 16 traffic accidents involving foreign nationals have been recorded since the beginning of the year, resulting in three deaths and 16 injuries. The Nguyen Du Lao–Vietnamese bilingual school would continue serving as a bridge for preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity while strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos across generations. The agreement was inked by Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan, and Sergei Kochetkov, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Rossiya Segodnya. Experts agreed that integrating nutrient management, biotechnology, mechanisation and digital technologies will enhance productivity, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the transition towards greener, more sustainable rice production. The municipal Department of Construction said the plan includes traffic restrictions, designated parking areas, public bus services and public bicycle stations to help residents adjust their travel routes and access alternative transport options. Residents say Ho Chi Minh City presents diverse landscapes ranging from agricultural and eco-tourism areas to industrial zones, logistics hubs, coastal urban centres and protected natural environments, each contributing its own distinctive character. Personnel from the Vietnam People's Army and the People's Public Security Force were deployed to different locations. In addition to their assigned missions, they also responded to requests from victims' families by searching nearby areas for those still missing. In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully laid flowers and observed a minute of silence in memory of President Ho Chi Minh – the great leader of the Party and the nation, a national liberation hero and a world cultural celebrity. The total volume of relief supplies amounted to 45.6 tonnes, including 35 tonnes of emergency rations, 4 tonnes of medicines, 2 tonnes of canned meat, four generators, 500 tents, 10 large relief shelters, and 50,000 rolls of medical bandages. Under Hanoi's planning guidelines, universities are to gradually relocate to areas such as Hoa Lac, Xuan Mai and Son Tay, where land is plentiful and long-term development is feasible. The system comprises 1,107 cameras for detecting traffic violations, 960 for vehicle flow monitoring, 112 for intersection monitoring, 251 pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and 30 for detecting speed violations. A total of 930 camera poles have been installed at 238 major intersections, gateways and urban areas across the capital. The head of the delegation, accompanied by several team members and representatives of the Venezuelan side, subsequently conducted a field survey in La Guaira to assess the situation and prepare for the deployment of personnel and equipment for search-and-rescue operations. Over a 105-day mission from March 26 to June 30, Team K72 collected information, conducted field searches and excavations, and recovered the remains of 62 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Cambodia's Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces. Produced by Ho Chi Minh City Television Film Studio (TFS), the documentary pays tribute to the late leader while exploring the historical and emotional significance of the city's name. From August 15, drivers carrying children under the age of 10 and shorter than 1.35 metres without appropriate child restraint systems will receive a warning. The requirement does not apply to vehicles used for commercial passenger transportation. From July 1, Ho Chi Minh City will waive fares on 134 bus routes, including 109 subsidised and 25 non-subsidised services, with the policy remaining in effect through the end of 2026. At the memorial monument inside the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Special National Relic Site, the delegation solemnly offered flowers and incense in memory of heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom and lasting peace.
