Cambodian Ambassador Meets Trainees, Skilled Workers in Japan, Reaffirms Bilateral Ties

His Excellency Chum Sounry, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Japan, met with Cambodian trainees and skilled workers in Shizuoka Prefecture on July 12, 2026. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Cambodian Embassy in Japan to protect the rights, welfare, and legal interests of Cambodian citizens residing and working in Japan. The event was attended by Japanese partners, including Mr. OTA Yasu, Governor of Mori Town; Mr. YAMAMOTO Yuzo, a Member of Parliament; Mr. KATSUI Keisuke, President of Matsui Konpo Co., Ltd.; and Mr. KUSAMURA Sota, President of SDM Co., Ltd., along with approximately 120 Cambodian trainees and skilled workers. During the occasion, His Excellency the Ambassador highlighted the continuous progress in Cambodia-Japan relations since the two countries elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023. He stated that Japan remains a crucial partner for Cambodia, particularly in human resource development, skills transfer, job creation, and economic and social development. The Ambassador praised the Cambodian trainees and skilled workers for playing a role as a bridge of friendship between Cambodia and Japan. He encouraged them to diligently study and develop their vocational skills during their stay in Japan, so they can contribute to the development of their homeland in the future with their acquired experience and knowledge. His Excellency also called on them to respect Japan's laws and regulations, maintain good conduct, avoid any illegal activities, and take care to protect themselves from natural disasters and various health risks. The Ambassador reiterated that the Embassy of Cambodia in Japan will continue to provide consular services, labor protection, and other necessary assistance to Cambodian citizens throughout Japan. Concurrently, he encouraged the Cambodian community in Japan to maintain solidarity, support each other, and actively participate in various community and cultural activities to jointly strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. His Excellency expressed his deep gratitude to the government and people of Japan, local authorities, partner companies, and all stakeholders for their continued support and contributions to enhancing the welfare of Cambodian citizens in Japan. He also reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to continue close cooperation with all relevant partners to further strengthen and expand the robust friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Cambodia and Japan.
