Vietnam's stock market is entering a new phase of global integration after being upgraded from frontier to secondary emerging-market status by FTSE Russell. This milestone is widely viewed by financial observers as a turning point in the market’s long-term development. FTSE Russell has officially announced that Vietnam will be reclassified from frontier to secondary emerging market status, marking a major milestone for the country’s capital market after more than a decade of reforms. Vietnam is set to be officially reclassified from Frontier Market to Secondary Emerging Market on September 21, 2026, following an interim review in March 2026. This market upgrade signifies Vietnam's robust economic growth and its continuous efforts to enhance capital market transparency and regulatory reforms. Vietnam has also emerged among the world’s 10 most improved real estate markets in terms of transparency during the 2024-26 period, according to the 2026 Global Real Estate Transparency Index released by global real estate services firm JLL, underscoring the health of its property sector. Furthermore, Vietnam is accelerating its green economic transition, with electronics manufacturers finding it essential to comply with environmental standards to maintain their position in global supply chains. This demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to meeting international benchmarks and pursuing sustainable growth. At the local level, Hai Phong city is committed to building an enabling administration that acts decisively and takes responsibility, aiming to provide the best possible services to residents and the business community. An Giang province plans to highlight its urban development, key industries, and investment prospects, promoting its signature products and investment incentives. Additionally, the Vietnam Industrial Park Supply Enterprises Association and the Korea-Vietnam Association of Science and Technology have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding aimed at helping thousands of firms expand globally. These initiatives strengthen the foundation for Vietnamese enterprises to enhance their competitiveness in the international market. Under Vietnam's one-party system, strong government leadership drives economic policy. Particularly in relations with China, managing supply chain diversification and geopolitical risks while maintaining economic interdependence remains a key challenge. This upgrade to emerging market status is expected to provide Vietnam with an opportunity to further attract capital inflows from international financial markets and enhance the quality of its economic growth amidst these circumstances. Vietnam Defence Expo 2026 will cover about 123,800 sq.m and feature seven main areas, including indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces, a defence experience and military games area, a space showcasing defence-economic products and the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s three regions, a VIP reception area, grandstand and performance areas, and common facilities. With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 26,919 VND/USD, and the floor rate 24,355 VND/USD.
